Jami Van Orden '24 Recruiting Profile

I began playing soccer when I was 4 years old. My passion for the sport has only grown in the past 12 years I’ve been playing, and continues to grow every day. Each time I touch a ball I’m reminded of how difficult it would be to be forced to give up playing once I enter college, so I set my sights on playing at the collegiate level. 

On and off the field two of my biggest assets are effort and leadership. Whether my team is down 5-0 or winning 5-0 the effort I put into my play is constantly 100%. Being vocal on the field and keeping positive energy no matter the situation allows my teammates to work their hardest and keep away from frustration. My vision on the field is an immense part of my play, as I can see plays develop before they happen and direct my teammates to the positions they should be in for the play to develop. Frequently, my accurate passes and ability to move the ball down the field quickly without mistakes begin scoring plays. 

I am no stranger to hard work both on the field and in the classroom. Since middle school, I‘ve taken advanced classes in every subject. As a freshmen and sophomore I took all honors classes excluding Pre-Calculus and maintained a 4.65 weighted GPA. As a junior, I am taking four AP classes and was accepted into the National Honor Society. In addition to my high GPA I am in the NJROTC program and have amassed 94 hours of community service throughout my time in high school. 

I want to make everyone that helped me get to the point I am today proud, as well as have a positive impact on as many people’s lives as possible. My goals are to attend a college that will help me continue achieving academic excellence, and continue playing the sport I love.
