Mikayla Newell '24 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Mikayla but my friends and teammates call me ”Mik.” I am a Varsity captain for the Morris Catholic Crusaders. I also play club for the STA 2005/2006 GA NAL team and former NJ ODP 2006 girls team. I can be considered the Swiss Army Knife of my teams because of my versatility. I can play as a center back, outside back, and defensive mid. My confidence and physicality allow me to adapt and make impactful decisions at whatever position my coaches put me to make our team more competitive. Although I am quiet and nonchalant off the field, when I lace up my cleats for trainings, practices or games, I dominate whatever I do, whether it’s fitness, slide tackling, passing, scoring or helping my goalie maintain a clean sheet. Having range in skills and abilities is what drives me to work hard on and off the field to increase my soccer IQ and achieve high level, consistent and dependable play for myself, my team, and my coaches.
