Madison Ejgird '24 Recruiting Profile

Unbreakable.  Determined.  Focused.  Coachable.  These are all words used by my Coaches when describing me.  I was born a GOALKEEPER.  I've been in the net since I was 4 years old, and ironically had decided to take the position of goalkeeper because I had asthma and would hate to run.  It felt so natural and exciting for me, and I haven't come out since!  Goalkeeping has always given me the chance to prove to myself that I can overcome any obstacle and that anything is achievable.  It has taught me not to be afraid and to dig deep and trust myself and to go after what I want, that anything is possible.  Every game for me is like a completely different feeling and at some point, during each game there comes a time that I tell myself that this is the moment that I am going to surpass my limits right here and right now!  Each time I walk back into that net, I believe in myself more.

My passion for soccer gives me the motivation and drive I need every day to push myself to be the best academically, the best teammate, and the best goalkeeper.  I am fortunate enough to have an extremely supportive family who have always stood behind me and allowed me opportunities to train year-round and play any chance I get.  As a goalkeeper, I have developed an extraordinary ability to be able to connect with the teams I play with, which allows me plenty of opportunities to play.  My journey to date has been an exciting progressive path from rec, high school, EDP, national academy team, ECNL, W-League, UWS-League 2, and a USL Academy team.  

The next step of my journey will lead me to Spain for (10) months where I have been awarded a scholarship to study, train, and play for FC Odisea Academy, U23 Regional 1st team (amateur).  I feel blessed to have this opportunity during my senior year of high school and I look forward to sharing my international soccer experience through my social media pages.

Ultimately, after I reach my goal to play collegiate soccer, I aspire to play professionally and later infuse my soccer career with my academic studies of biology and orthopedic medicine into a professional career in the world of soccer.
