As a 3-sport athlete, I am a starting varsity player on all 3 teams since my freshman year. I have dedicated myself to working hard to keep my grades up as well as be successful in each of the 3 sports. Time management is key for me to be able to play each season, continue with my Academy travel soccer team, and keep up my GPA. My work ethic and commitment to all of my teams, shows that I am more than capable of playing at the college level, and succeeding in college at the same time. I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically.
My freshman year began with my first tryout for a high school sport -- soccer. Playing soccer since I was 5 years old, I was sure I would get a spot on the team and some playing time. To my surprise, I was chosen for the Varsity team. Then the roster was announced for our first game, and I was the starting forward for the Varsity team, which I continue to start at that position for every game. I became one of the top goal scorers for the team, both freshman and sophomore years. Sophomore year was a little tougher to start, especially with our team losing many seniors. I was frustrated and felt I was letting the team down. As the season wore on, I knew I needed to bring us back with some wins, which would boost the morale of my teammates. Leading my team to win our conference that year was definitely the boost of confidence I needed, and my team needed. Not only winning the game but being able to score the winning goal to end the game after double overtimes. I received the ball and outran 2 of the defenders to score. I had felt confident and worthy of playing with this group of girls who were older than me, but knowing my team was relying on me is what really made this a true victory.
The one thing that I have that not all athletes have is my speed. I am not sure how I am fast or where I got it from, but from the first time I stepped onto the field, basketball court and track, I stood out from the rest because I am really fast. I was ranked as the #1 freshman in my county in the 100-meter dash for Spring Track & Field, and #7 in the state. I encourage you to check out my highlight video and YouTube clip from track in my profile to show you that my biggest asset is my speed. I hope this shows you that not only will I be an excellent addition to your team, but I am a true athlete with a unique skill that could out run any player, and may just be what your team is missing.
