I have been playing soccer for as long as I can remember and over the years it has become such an important part of my life. Throughout my high school career, I have learned many things about the sport itself as well as how to overcome hardships. In June of 2017, the summer before my junior year, I tore my ACL while playing in a summer league game with my high school team. The journey I embarked on during the next 6 months taught me how to play a different role on the team, one that wouldn’t be played on the field, but off. I attended every practice and every game, supporting my team the only way I could. Being there to support my teammates was very important to me and it allowed me the opportunity to be one of the first faces one of my teammates saw after she suffered an ACL injury during a regular season game. Not being able to play that year pushed me to work harder during my recovery to get back as soon as possible and to be stronger than ever. While the injury was devastating, the process taught me to give 110% in everything I do, whether in sports or academics and to never take anything for granted.
I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I have what it takes to compete at the collegiate level while also excelling in my academics. I am looking forward to the next chapter in my soccer career and am ready to do whatever it takes to be the best student athlete I can.
