I have played soccer as long as I can remember. I started when I was five years old, and I quickly fell in love. When I was younger I played many sports, just like many other kids my age, but soccer always stuck out to me, and I decided I wanted to drop the other sports and focus on soccer. Throughout my soccer career I have played every position on the field, even goal keeper for a few years. But I really fell in love with the sport in high school because it became my life and my teammates became my second family. For the first two years of high school I played soccer in the fall and basketball in the winter, but at the beginning of my junior year I decided that I wanted to focus solely on soccer with people who I love playing with, who want me to succeed and be the best player and person I can be.
High school soccer at Stow Munroe Falls has taught me a great deal of lessons over the last three years and will continue to teach me even more during my senior year. I was taught the first lesson during my sophomore year when I was captain of the junior varsity team. Being a captain of the junior varsity team taught me how to help/ mentor younger players and players who may need a little more time to understand some things. It also taught me to be patient and let things work themselves out because if you work hard and do the little things, the big things, like winning games, will come. Another lesson I learned was during the same time when our team won the Suburban League, which has not happened in 10 years. I learned that you do not have to be on the varsity field or the best player on the team to have an impact on the team and the outcome. During that entire year, I did not step foot on the varsity field but I was still a part of winning the Suburban League because I practiced hard and made the varsity team better by pushing them everyday to be the best players they can be. Now I am on the varsity team and it has taught me that someone is always coming for your spot and you can’t slow down just because you got where you want to be.
I hope to continue to play in college because of the atmosphere soccer allows for and continue to experience the best feeling in the world. The feeling of celebrating with your teammates after an exhausting but satisfying win or the feeling of accomplishing something you have worked for all season with your best friends. I am dedicated on the field as well as off, as evidenced by my academic transcript. I have prided myself in taking classes that push me to get better and excel at subjects that I might not be my strong suit. I also strive for A’s and B’s in all of my classes, no matter the difficulty of the class to further push myself and to prove to myself that hard work pays off. One thing that surprises people about me is that I love the arts. I have been in choir since 4th grade and now in high school I am in a AA Women's Chorus and we are one of the top three all girl choirs in Northeast Ohio. I also have fallen in love with photography and plan on either minoring in photography or joining a club in college. Finally, I have fallen in love with sports ever since I was a kid and now I plan on pursuing a dream of mine which is to work for a professional or college sports team by studying sports management in college.
