My name is Megan Bartley and I attend Austintown Fitch High School. I am on the Fitch girls soccer team, I have been a varsity starter since my sophomore year. I am also in the band at Fitch. I play the flute and am on the rifle line as well playing the violin for orchestra. High School is a great time. I’ve made so many friends and memories that will last a lifetime. My grades were not the greatest, but I am working extra hard this year to bringing up my GPA, being honest I didn’t really care about my grades, I got lazy and that showed in my school work and grades. My goal for the time I leave high school is to have a 3.6 GPA.
Talking a little bit about soccer, I am the goalkeeper. I have been playing soccer since I was six years old. Goalkeeping is my favorite and I don’t really play any other position. My passion for goalkeeping started when I was little watching my two older brothers dominating in the box and thinking to myself that I want to be like them one day. I have the respect from my team, letting them know I will have their backs and they have mine. Having the trust of my team allows us to play more efficiently and safely on the field. Accomplishments I have had in soccer are getting MVP one year at the Adidas tournament and becoming the only sophomore and junior to letter in my class.
I want to go to college for psychology because I want to start a ranch for juvenile delinquents and kids that don’t have the best home life. I want to teach these kids about God and what He can do in their lives. Show them that someone really cares about them even when they think they are all alone in this world. This was not my first choice of what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to go into music. One day at my church camp God laid this other vocation on my heart. I prayed that if this is really what he wants me to do a new idea won’t appear. Since I haven’t found anything else I want to do, I’m taking that as a yes from Him.
Deciding what to do for the rest of your life at a young age is very difficult, especially if you have no idea what you want to do. Unlike others I knew what I wanted to do for the longest time, well I thought I did. When I was younger I wanted to be a veterinarian just like every little girl who loves animals. Those plans quickly changed into become a music teacher, I had my heart set on that. That was it, I was becoming a music teacher, or so I thought, again those plans quickly changed into wanting to help people. I started researching careers that deal with people's emotions and illnesses, finding the perfect career for me. Starting a ranch for juvenile delinquents is my long term goal but I would like to work in a hospital for suicidal teens and help them with their illness. Having some of my friends whom have tried to take their own life, I don’t want to see another teen die because they didn't get the right treatment or attention they needed.
I am also involved in some extracurriculars such as German club, band, orchestra, as well as volunteering at my church. I ring the Salvation Army bell every year, work with the little kids during junior church and kids club, teaching them Bible lessons and babysitting for people inside and outside church when they need it. During praise and worship time I may be helping with the sound board, lyric projection or even singing on stage.
Now that I have given you some information about myself I hope I have peaked your interest. I look forward to hearing from you and developing a relationship on and off the field
