JOSIE GELSTHORPE '21 Recruiting Profile

My dream is to one day become a doctor. I look up to women like Nadia Nadim (Netherlands National team, 2017 Portland Thorns) who has managed to play soccer at an elite level while being a medical student. It helps to keep my dream alive of playing soccer for as long as possible and fulfilling my lifelong goal of becoming a doctor. 

I would make an excellent addition to your team because of my versatility as a player. I had trained exclusively as a goalkeeper since I was 9 years old. My Freshman year of high school, I was asked to play a different position for both my high school team and for my club team. This was a challenge I was excited to tackle. I grew to love other positions on the field. My high school coach stressed the importance of being able to play any position at any time, and I enjoyed being able fill that need. Because I was willing to put in the extra work to learn new positions, I was given the Sandite Award for Girls Soccer. This is our school's version of the "heart of the team, willing to put in the extra work and do everything that was asked without complaint". I would love to bring this attitude to your team.
