Personal Statement

I live in a town of 7000 about 40 minutes from the nation's capital, Ottawa.  When I was 8, I belonged to a soccer club in my hometown, they had never had a competitive team at my age level and the town decided to enter a boy's competitive team into a program.  They needed to have a couple of girls in order to enter and they asked me to play.  When the season was over, I told my mother that I was going to go to College in Florida to play soccer, I wished I could play soccer all year long and want to play on team Canada.  My mother laughed at me and said that I would need a scholarship for that and I could play soccer all year long in Ottawa.  I asked what is a scholarship, asked her to research it with me, and asked to join a club in Ottawa.  Then I started to work towards my goal.  My mother just thought that I wanted to go to Disney World every day, but she supported me and started the journey towards my dream.  I am a member of the OPDL (Ontario Player Development League), the provinces first youth high-performance league.  Last season I was provincially screened, placed 6th in scoring in the league.   For this season,  I secured a position in Ottawa on the 4th placed team in the League but is the highest placed team in the Ottawa area.  I am focused,  solid academically and athletically. I need you to help me fulfill my dream!

  • The OPDL is the province's first standards-based, youth high performance league that combines top level competition with strict high performance training standards. This performance program is an important component of the overall movement to adopt the core principles of Long Term Player Development (LTPD) across soccer at large in Ontario and Canada. The placement on an OPDL team is based on athletic performance and ability. OPDL represents young players' early graduation to a genuine high performance training environment, targeting only the top athletes in the province from age groups U13 to eventually U17, with what will be the highest level of competitive youth soccer in Ontario. Unlike other leagues, OPDL operates more as a high performance training program than merely a league.
