Hi Coaches! My name is Victoria Fernandes and I currently a goalkeeper for Oakville Soccer Club 2006 B team. I have been playing soccer since I was 4 years old but only started playing rep in U13. Soccer has always been something that I'm very passionate about and getting to the next level, I am in 12th grade and will be graduating in June at Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School in Oakville, ON. Unfortunately because of covid I missed out on my freshman year of soccer but I have played since grade 10 on the Varsity team, and in our first year back we made it to OFSAAA quarter finals. I have a GPA of 3.9 with an 85% average in honour roll.
Since I started soccer I have not changed clubs but have moved up in the ranks throughout my career. I first started in house league until U13 where I was moved up to the C team, since the B team goalie was often injured I played multiple games with that team along with my own, I practice for countless hours every week with sometimes not even getting a day off. In the summer of U15, we were allowed to start playing again (covid) and after my first game I was told that the B team wanted me. I moved up and continued playing there until present. When I first start rep it was rough, I was behind everyone else in my goalie training when it came to knowledge and technique. But what I've learned over the past few years is that hard work beats anything. I came into rep with only knowing how to catch a ball and only speaking a couple of words each practice. But now, with the countless hours of training a week I have become an excellent confident goalkeeper. I have come to incredible heights in which my coaches and teammates have both recognized and applaud me for my hardworking. I've learned and adapted to different playing styles and found my style of play. I have always been the type of person to put 110% into everything I do and so I am full determined to continue putting as much work as needed to get to the post-secondary level. My dream will always be to play at the next level, and I know that with my continuous hark work and with the passion I have for this game one day it'll come true.
