Soccer has been a lifelong passion for me. I have been playing soccer since I was five years old. Having said that, I only started playing competitively when I reached U12. Once I became a competitive player, I set a goal of reaching the next level every year and constantly pushed myself to improve. I began at the lowest level (L5 – intra-city) and over the course of five years, made my way up to the highest level of soccer in Ontario (L1 – OYSL/Provincial). I love soccer for the competition, for the teamwork involved and for that exhilarating feeling you get when the ball is at your feet.
My speed, composure, decision making and strength are the best aspects of my game. I go hard into tackles and I make clean, crisp passes. I move forward with the ball when I have the space and will start the attack from the back four when I can. Something my current team really relies on me to do is to use my speed to track down the other teams fast strikers when they get in behind our back line.
I try to work just as hard at school as I do on the soccer field. Over the past two years, I have maintained a 91% average (3.7 GPA) and have always made sure to keep a fair balance between school and soccer. Both in grade 9 and 10, I received the honor society certificate for an above 80% average and the silver medal award for an above 90% average. Also, in grade 9, I received the excellent achievement award in extended French.
As for fields of study, I am extremely interested in the Biological Sciences. I find genetics, ecology and evolutionary biology, animal biology and molecular biology very interesting. Biology, for me, is fun and engaging. It is something that involves hands-on work and exploration. It is definitely an interest I would love to pursue.
I'm looking forward to finding a university where I can combine my academic and athletic passions.
