My name is Olivia Olsen and I am currently a junior in high school. I have been playing soccer for as long as I can remember! For the Olsen’s, soccer is definitely a family affair. My 15 year old brother also plays soccer for the same club that I play for. My dad played soccer in high school and coached both my brother and me up until U11 and my mom is my travel teams’ manager. So, needless to say, we spend a lot of time at the soccer fields. When I first joined LDC (now Penn FC), I was placed onto the second team after try-outs. My goal was to be on the first team. I knew if I worked hard I would be able to accomplish this, and that is what I did. I earned a starting position as a freshman on my high school team and we won the District Three title for the first time in school history. I am proud that I helped to contribute to our success throughout the season by scoring some crucial goals during our run to states. My freshman year helped to build my confidence and this has transferred over to club soccer as well. By the end of my high school career, I hope to help push our team to the State Championship.
I also make sure that my grades in school reflect my work ethic (currently a 4.0 GPA and taking Honors courses). As I research colleges to figure out where I want to go, I am looking to challenge myself to be my best on and off the field. One of the greatest feelings I have during a soccer game is the excitement I feel when I, as a center mid-fielder, play my striker the “perfect” pass to make a goal. I find myself to be persevering, hard-working, committed, and a great teammate. I am confident that when you see what I bring to the table, you will know that I am a great addition to your team.
