Hello, my name is Shaylee Shimmel. I have been playing soccer since the age of 5 and I truly have a passion for this game. Soccer has taught me leadership skills, allowed me to recognize the importance of working and communicating with other people, and it pushed me to form bonds with teammates and meet new people. Soccer is very important to me, and while it is something I enjoy, it is also something that I care deeply about and take very seriously. I am currently going into my 7th year of club level play. I am the captain of my club team and high school team and my teammates look to me to guide them. The reason for this is because I possess leadership qualities, demonstrate hard work, and actively communicate on the field. Off the field, I am always looking to better myself as a person and as a player. As I look towards selecting a school to attend, a big factor that will play into my decision is the athletics. My goal is to attend somewhere that I can continue to be a competitive player and further my skills. I want to continue to grow and be a leader. I believe that I possess the qualities to be an outstanding player, and I want to select a school that will help me get there and succeed in my goals.
Academics is also something that is very important in my life. Everyday I strive to do the best that I can in the classroom, and I am always looking for ways to improve my scores and grades. I take academics very seriously and my education is very important to me. As a student, I am able to maintain a 4.2 GPA while still participating in club soccer, school sports, and other extracurriculars, such as choir and student council. I am hardworking, dedicated, and focused. When I set a goal, I always work my hardest to complete it as soon as possible. I also work to help my peers in their academics when they need assistance. I am currently in the top 5% of my class and I take all honors and AP courses, aside from electives. My hope is to attend a school that is academically competitive, so I can continue to strive to do my best, while having the support of my peers. Academics is a huge priority to me, so I hope to attend a school that recognizes the importance of academics and assists in their student’s success.
