Annie Messner '13 Recruiting Profile

     My name is Annie Messner.  I would like to focus my studies in college in the health care field specifically in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, and Physical Therapy.  I have been playing soccer since I was five years old and it has always been my goal to play college soccer.  I would also like to continue to stay involved in soccer after college by coaching or training athletes.
     I am a goalkeeper for Penn Fusion '94 girls. I am 5'6" and weigh 135 lbs.  My strength as a keeper is my  speed, agility and communication with my teammates.  I have been involved in the travel soccer program since U-9.  I have played positions on the field both offensively and defensively moving into the keeper position at U-14.
     I was on the ODP State team for two years U15 & U-16 and attended two years at Region 1 camp in Rhode Island.  This was an excellent experience that exposed me to different coaches and players and most importantly taught me to develop a tough mindset.
     I am a junior at Downingtown West High School in Downingtown, Pennsylvania.   I am a member of the Downingtown West Girls Soccer Team.  I was captain my junior year and look forward to being a senior captain as well.   As a captain I learned the importance of supporting my coaches, maintaining our team traditions, motivating my team to set and meet goals, as well as setting an example for my team mates to follow. My Freshman year, we won the PIAA State Title and were ranked Number 1 from ESPN Rise. My Sophmore year I was the Varsity starting keeper, was named All- Area Ches- Mont 1st Team, All- Area Honorable Mention, and was awarded Varsity Most Defensive Player from my coaches.  As a Junior, I was the Varsity starting keeper, a Captain, I made All- Area Ches- Mont 1st Team, All- Area 2nd team, and was awarded Most Valuable Player from my coaches.
     Overall, as both a student and an athlete I am a hard worker.  I am a leader and a team player.   I am dedicated and committed to doing my best in school and on the soccer field.
