My name is Courtney Smith and I am currently a junior at the small private school of Bishop McCort Catholic High School. Let me first tell you about my athletics. Out of the three sports I play, soccer is my love. I started playing soccer way back in fourth grade and it instantly became my obsession. I began playing as an offensive midfielder and a forward, but as I moved into the more competitive world of high school and travel soccer, I slowly moved back to become a defender or defensive midfielder. I grew to love being a defender. I am not afraid to be aggressive and attack the ball. I know how to cut off an angle, cover someone, and recover with lightning speed. It is also not completely out of my nature to take the ball up on runs and make offensive plays. Although I devote much of my time to soccer, I also dabble with track and basketball. I only started running track this year, but I had an amazing season. I ran on two of the relay teams, one of which metaled second in the state of Pennsylvania. I also ran in the 200 and 400 meter dashes. My individual times are as followed: 100 meter- 13.5, 200 meter- 27.7, 400 meter- 63.7. I believe that running track helps me improve my speed and keeps me in shape for soccer. Next, although playing three sports can be very hectic, I do not let that get in the way of my school work. My hard work and dedication has landed me a spot in the National Honor Society. Also, I have been on the High Honor Roll and the Highest Honor Roll all eight quarters I have spent at BMCHS. I have taken several honors classes and I plan to take a few AP classes as I make my journey through high school. Third, I want to talk about my future. Ever since I was little, I have always had an interest in Criminal Justice. I have been looking into Criminology and Psychology as two possible majors. I have very high expectations for my future and I am willing to do whatever it takes to reach my goals. Lastly, I am going to state the things that set me apart from others. I am a silent leader. I take initiative by being the person to take the ball up and start a play. I am aggressive and I will not give up. I will play my hardest until the very last whistle. I play with good sportsmanship and respect. I live by putting God first, family second, academics third, sports fourth. Finally, when I am in soccer mode, I eat, sleep, breathe, soccer.
