Hello, my name is Madison Jolie and I play center back and outside back on both my club/travel teams, North East United and TNT Elite. I am also a 4-year starter on my varsity High School team. I have been playing soccer since I was 4 years old and now I feel as though it is time to move onto playing at the collegiate level. I love the sport, all the amazing people that the sport allows me to meet, and the feeling of being a part of something bigger than yourself. Starting young in Spokane Washington I played on FC Spokane until I tried out and made the Spokane Sounders A team in 6th grade. I moved from Washington to Pennsylvania and continued my career on NEU and TNT Elite. I also played for ODP for 2 years during my time here.
I love that I have played with numerous teams and have had the opportunity to receive many different styles of coaching. I feel like this makes me more well-rounded as a player. I have moved around on the field quite a lot in my years, playing wherever my team needs me to play. I am very coachable and take constructive criticism well as I am always looking to improve my game. For the most part, I play defense due to my height and stature, aggressiveness, speed, and ability to play in the air. I also have a very good understanding of the field which allows me to be vocal for my teammates.
As a student athlete, academics are very important to me. I hold myself to a very high standard on and off the field, always giving my best effort and always looking for opportunities to improve. I have taken the top courses my school offers including AP Literature and Composition, AP United States History, AP Physics 1, Honors Chemistry 2, and Trigonometry/ El Functions. Working very hard in each class I was able to end the year with all A’s and ranked in the top 1 percent of my class at 3rd out of 260 students. I hope to continue my academic career studying Biological Sciences and continue into Pre-Med to become a Dermatologist.
Something that I strongly believe in on and off the field is your attitude. I feel as though it is important to understand that not everything is going to go your way. Refs are going to make calls that you don’t always agree with or you might find yourself losing in a game. What's important is that you continue to play your game, never give up, and keep a positive attitude. I feel as though I can make a difference, have a positive impact in the classroom and on the field, and would be a great contributor to my future college.
