My family has definitely been the biggest influence in my life, we're kind of a weird combination. My two siblings and I have always been super involved in sports, but the three of us are also very academically inclined, thanks to our parents (who are both ridiculously smart). Our conversations at the table normally consist of politics and history, and I've developed an affinity for both topics. I'm the type of girl that tries to do everything (sometimes too many things at a time). But this trait has made me a pretty well rounded person. If you recruit me you won't get just a soccer player, but also an honor student and someone involved in an (almost ridiculous) amount of extracurricular activities.
I first started playing soccer in fourth grade at school and in sixth grade I decided to join a club team. I've always been a very athletic kid, I used to do volleyball, baseball, cross country running, swimming, etc. But when I entered high school I had to make a choice as to which sport I would dedicate myself to. To me the choice was pretty obvious, so here we are.
Through soccer I have been able to develop my confidence and my critical thinking skills. Thanks to this sport I've learned to analyze situations and come up with a solution in mere seconds. My academic career is my priority though, my goal is to enter an academically challenging university in order to be prepared for the challenges that await me once I enter the workforce.
My soccer and academic careers haven't been all smooth sailing though, but would it be worth it if they were? I've had my fair share of disappointments, I've lost that important game versus that one rival team, I've been cut from the national team, I've had moments where I've thought about quitting everything. But the next day I get right back up and work harder, because if it didn't hurt, then that means I never cared. Every time an obstacle presents itself I will try my hardest to overcome it, sometimes I'll fail, but I'll always persevere. I'm not perfect, really no one is. This game is about who wants it the most, who is willing to put in everything they have to win that game, to make that team, to get into that university. So as long as I'm able, I will keep working and keep trying.
