I have been playing soccer since I was 6 years old. I started as a defender, but I fell in love with goalkeeping at 11 when I was chosen to substitute for our injured goalkeeper. I loved watching sports growing up and dreamed of playing soccer for the rest of my life. I want to play at the collegiate level because I want to push myself to limits I did not know I could reach. I want to meet new people, develop new qualities and have life-lasting experiences while playing the sport I love.
Playing soccer has helped me develop many qualities. I am dedicated, coachable, and committed. I manage my schedule well to be at every practice while getting my homework done on time. I do not even go on vacations because I do not want to miss practices or games as they are essential to progress as a player. Playing on a team with boys when I was younger helped me to become competitive and aggressive. Being a goalkeeper has also taught me leadership and reliability. I believe being positive and encouraging are two of the most important qualities because as a team we should raise each other up. I take these qualities with me on and off the field.
I strive for success in athletics and in my education. I am proud of my academic accomplishments, especially being an honour student. My academic goals are to maintain a high GPA and receive excellent marks in my classes. My athletic goals are to improve overall as a player and learn more about the university athlete experience. I am currently interested in courses revolving the Liberal Arts, but my passion is Sports Journalism/Broadcasting. I grew up watching TSN, but never saw many women. I have always wanted to break the barriers of women not being seen in the sports world, hence why I want to become a Sports Journalist. As for what I am open to and looking for, I am open to all options and want to find the university that is the best fit for me.
