I am a 5’4’’ center back, from Swansea, South Carolina and I will be graduating with the class of 2019. When I was 4 years old, I fell in love with this game. Every time I step out on the field to start playing I would get very nervous, but along with the nerves, I felt so honored to be able to play. Playing soccer has taught me how to be a better person, how to have respect for the other girls playing for the same reason I am. Also the game has taught me confidence, how to stand up, and to be brave. I have faced many obstacles just like any other athlete, one in particular kept me from playing the game I love for 3 months. After battling ankle injuries for 3 years, I had to have surgery because we discovered I was born with an extra bone that came loose after suffering an ankle sprain. It was a long recovery, but I was determined to get back in the game as soon as possible.
WIthout my parents help and motivation, I would not be the athlete or student I am today. They helped me strive to be the better person in any outcome. I push harder and try harder in order to honor my parents, for the sacrifices they make for me to play at the level I am playing today. Alongside my parents pushing me to do better, my teammates are also the reason I am the person, and the leader that I am. They look up to me on the field for guidance and support, but also in the classroom as a tutor and as a friend.
I would love to play at the collegiate level and continue my sport as long as possible. My goal is to obtain a quality education at the same time and to take what I have learned and experienced to help other athletes in my future career as a Sports Trainer/Physical Therapist.
