Centre Colonels class of 2027!!!
My name is Olivia Federico and my goal is to attend a college with a very rigorous academic standard that will help me in preparing for a future career that will be professionally challenging and personally fulfilling. I will also challenge myself by continuing my soccer career at the collegiate level. I was born in Memphis, TN and my family relocated to Green Bay, WI when I was a baby. I began playing soccer at the Green Bay YMCA when I was 4 years old. I loved the basic concepts of the game immediately and have played ever since.
My family and I moved back to the Memphis area after 2nd grade (2013) and I played one season for the Collierville Soccer Association recreational program and then began playing in the competitive program (Lobos Rush) in 2014. My rec coach encouraged me to push myself and tryout for Lobos. The first year I was selected for the “bottom” team. I loved the competition and the teamwork and I loved the challenge of improving my skills in the competitive league. I wanted to continue improving my skills and I attended every skills camp offered by the club. I was selected for the 2nd team (out of 4) my second season and played for them for a year. After tryouts moving into my third year of competitive play I was selected for the top team (Premier) and have been a part of the team ever since. I love the competitive challenge of playing for the Premier team, which is comprised of the top ’05 players in this area. My skills are tested at every practice and the level of competition in games is always a challenge. Our hard work paid off during the Spring 2021 season as we won the Southern Regional Championship in Greenville, SC and advanced to the semifinals of the USYS National Championship in FL (losing to the eventual National Champions from Utah in the semifinal).
Playing club prepared me well for high school where I am a proud member of the Collierville High School Lady Dragons soccer team. I was fortunate to earn playing time, and one start, as a 9th grader and even more fortunate to earn a starting position in 10th and 11th grades on teams that qualified for the state playoffs. We lost in the state semifinals to the eventual state champions in 2021. I view every loss as a learning opportunity. I review each game to look for areas of self-improvement so I can increase my value to the team and improve our chance to win. Winning a TSSAA State Championship is my ultimate goal for my high school athletic career.
Outside of soccer I am a driven Honor Roll student. I demand more of myself in the classroom than I do on the athletic field. I take a full course load of Honors and AP classes and I am actively involved in the FCA, FIFA club, and Best Buddies. Best Buddies has been extremely rewarding because I get to do my small part to advance their mission. I also volunteer with the TOPSOCCER program through the Collierville Soccer Association. During Christmas time, i volunteer at the St. Theresa Church to help deliver food and gifts to those in need.
My favorite activities away from school are hanging out with friends and working out. I run and do strength training on my own when we have breaks from practice or when there is a break period from team organized strength training. I enjoy running a great deal and was a varsity track runner in 9th and 10th grade.
My goal is to find a school that offers top tier academics and a fantastic soccer program. I want to play with a team that focuses on team first and that has a collective goal of winning. My individual performance is very important to me because it will help the team move forward. My school and club coaches have both told me that I am “very coachable” and that I possess a high soccer IQ. I take tremendous pride in making an outstanding individual effort within the framework of the team. I hold myself to a very high standard and I want teammates and coaches that do the same.
