Thanks for checking out my profile!
My name is Mackenzie Banner but I go by Kenzie. At this point, I am attending Peninsula College, a two-year program in Port Angeles, Washington but I am looking to transfer to a four-year program as we just completed our fall 2022 season. My team in the fall of 2021 won the Northwest Athletic Conference Championship and we were ranked first in the nation in the United Soccer Coaches poll at the end of the year, and advanced to the quarterfinal in fall 2022 before losing in a pk shootout.
On the 2022 fall campaign, I scored 6 goals and had two assists from the holding midfielder position. I earned All Star for the NWAC and played in the All Star game on November 13, 2022 where I did net a goal.
I grew up in Oregon where I played for FC Portland ECNL and in my junior and senior year of High School, I was in Franklin, Tennessee. My High School team my senior year got second in the state of Tennessee. I also played for Tennessee Soccer Club ECNL and we were headed to ECNL Nationals before COVID interfered.
My GPA in high school was 3.82 and at Peninsula College, I have a 3.93 GPA. I made the president’s list throughout high school as well as during my time at Peninsula College.
I am a central midfielder and I enjoy playing the 6, 8, and 10. I enjoy playing out of the back and grew up playing possession with a purpose. I switch the field well, shoot from distance, have good field vision, I win the ball out of the air as well as the 50/ 50 balls and I use my size to break up plays and control the midfield. I am calm and level-headed on the field and have been told by both players and coaches that I settle other players down and help control the way teams are playing. In my position, I am comfortable controlling the flow of the game and controlling the way the game is played. I always make the smart pass and I believe in the importance of possession, and when to go direct.
I have learned many styles of play and played against teams from all over the country due to living in different states as well as my ECNL experience.
I have been playing soccer since I was three years old and I still believe I can improve a great deal. I am always looking to learn new skills and learn more about the game.
Both the academics and athletics of a school are very important to me because I would like to further my game as well as get a degree in Political Science or Legal Studies so that I can one day go to law school and become an environmental lawyer.
