Hi my name is Emma! I have been playing soccer for as long as I can remember. My goal has always been to play at the highest level of competition that I can achieve. I was given the opportunity to try-out for and play on the varsity team at Manvel High School my freshman year. I secured the starting defensive back position due to my speed and agility on the field. I am the fastest player on both my club and high school teams.
As I have grown up, my view of the game of soccer has changed as well. I have gained patience and the courage to lead. I have learned that it doesn’t matter how old you are on the field, if you are good at what you do and are a team player, you can earn the respect of your teammates. I enjoy learning the game and am learning to build the play from the back of the field. Both my high school and club coaches have praised me for my patience and for being a smart defender. I was the captain of my club team and my goal is to be MVP and captain of my high school team as well.
My club team placed first in the Surf Copa Tournament U18/19 division in San Antonio in November 2020. My high school team made it to the play-offs for the fourth year in a row in 2020. I was chosen for the 2nd Team All-District as a freshman and junior and made the 1st Team All-District as a sophomore. I have continued to work with my high school coach on the strategy for our defense for the upcoming season and I look forward to making it further into the play-offs.
My goals for college are to find a school where I can be challenged and excel at both my academics and soccer. I am looking for the opportunity to lead both in the classroom and on the pitch. I hope to be a nurse that works in the NICU to support young fragile babies and their families. This is really important to me because my cousin was born a micro-preemie and I remember visiting her in the hospital. I remember seeing my aunt and uncle worry over her bassinet and I want to be able to help babies like her get well and grow up to be wonderful people. My cousin is now 12 years old and is healthy and smart. I want to be a role model to her and to make my family proud.
