Personal Statement

My name is Sydnie Willis. I am a Senior at Summit Academy High School in Bluffdale, Utah and I will be graduating in the class of 2024. I have a 3.79 Cumulative GPA with a Class Rank of 21 of 125, which was last updated on 5/20/2023.  I've been playing soccer since I was four years old and I instantly fell in love with the sport.  I've always enjoyed a bit of good competition.

My preferred position is forward. I also like to play the wing depending on the formation being played because I enjoy sending great assists to the center for my teammates to run up on  and score as I find that assists are just as valuable as goals. I like to think of myself as a finisher, as I am never scared to pressure the goalie for a follow up on a shot.  I am 5’2" and mostly play forward for my club team and I play left back for my high school team, but I can comfortably play any position except keeper. I am a very versatile player and I’m willing to step up wherever I am needed. I have been playing at a D1 or higher level in competition soccer for the last four years. I am a team leader on and off the field and try to always be encouraging to my teammates.  I am very coachable and take my coach's feedback to heart and I have been told that I have a strong field and spatial awareness when on the field.

I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the soccer pitch.  I want to find a college that aligns well with my future desire to attend a Veterinary school, and I am very interested in schools that can offer me a Pre-Medicine/Biology Emphasis track to pursue my undergraduate studies while also being able to play soccer for a school at the highest level of competition possible.
