For as long as I can remember, soccer has been a significant part of my life. Being part of the Premier 1 level and Varsity team has taught me the importance of dedication, determination, leadership, hard work and cooperation. I have learned that when you put in great effort, you will achieve greater results. I know that simply attending practices is not enough. I strive to improve and maximize my performance by seeking out opportunities to up my game. Whether it be strength training with MVP Sports Science Institute, skills training with private coaches, or long hikes in the Utah mountains, working to make myself ready for competition is something I value.
Both my freshman and sophomore years, I have started as an outside back on the Varsity team. On my club team, I am playing up a year, but have maintained my starting position. I recognize my hard work and positive attitude have allowed me to achieve these goals. Coaches have often told me that I am an extremely coachable player and that I respond quickly and effectively to make adjustments on the field. I take pride in building strong relationships with my teammates off the field because it makes us more connected on the field. I can't imagine not being part of a team as it has been a part of my life since I was four.
When I am not on the field, I love being challenged in school and serving my local community. My high school is designated as the most challenging high school in Utah. I have chosen to enroll in Honors and AP courses to better prepare me for the rigors of college. Private Catholic education has instilled in me the importance of giving back. This year I am part of my school's Student Government as Spirit Representative, which combines my love of sports, leadership, and school spirit. For the past four years, I have been a member of the National Charity League, which has given me the opportunity to volunteer in my community. This year I serve as secretary for the class of 2023. When I am packing lunches for homeless teenagers or volunteering at the farmers' market for refugees, I love the feeling of making an impact in the community.
Being a supportive teammate, a strong leader, a dedicated student, and an active volunteer are all qualities that I feel will make me a valuable member of a college soccer team. It is my goal to bring what I have learned and experienced in my time as a soccer player to the college level. But I am even more excited for the opportunity to learn from the coaches, staff, and players for a team that I aspire to become a part of in college.
