Personal Statement

My name is Sara Magno. I am a sophomore at Youngstown State University looking to transfer.  In my college career I have started in 6 games and played in 14 as a defender and outside mid. In that time I have played against high caliber teams such as Army,  Xavier, and Cincinnati.

I graduated from Saint Thomas More Catholic High School in 2015. At Thomas More, I was a starter on varsity for four years, and captain my junior and senior year.  As a freshman, I was awarded an all-conference honorable mention award as a forward. As a sophomore I was moved back to center back because of my ability to lead on the field and my versatile ability. My senior year I was conference defensive player of the year and scored all 3 goals in the Cavaliers' first ever Regional Championship.

As a defender, I have maintained an offensive mindset, always looking for the best option to give my team the attacking advantage as well as utilizing both of my feet to do so. As a player, I am interested in helping my team in any way that I can. I am willing to play any position, continue to refine my skills, and to continue to be a student of the game.  Playing soccer has taught me that anything worth achieving requires hard work and dedication. The competitive edge that soccer has provided me with has transferred into the classroom, causing me to be a very driven student that strives for academic excellence. Whether it is in the classroom or on the field, I strive to be the best and always work my hardest.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
