Personal Statement

UPDATE: I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at Miami University! I want to thank my family, friends, and coaches for helping me get to this point! GO REDHAWKS!❤️🤍

I love to swim.  The water make me feel at home.  As soon as I hit the water, anything bothering me disappears.  I love to push myself and work hard in and out of the pool.  I strive to be the best person, student, and swimmer I can be.  I maintain a 4.0 GPA and take honors and AP classes.  I love to learn and believe that education is important.  I also believe that education is a privilege.  I am blessed to receive an education and want to take full advantage of it!  I am involved in the Superintendent Student Cadre and the Superintendent Challenge for volunteering.  My favorite volunteer activity is volunteering at Kiwanis Marketplace.

At practice, I focus on my goals and how I can improve.  Right now, I am especially focused on my breakouts.  Since joining Scottsdale Aquatic Club about 2 years ago, I have acquired future cuts in the 100 and 200 back, 200 IM, and the 100 fly.

During my 1st high school season, I was part of the 200 and 400 free relay team.  The 200 relay came in 4th at the Division II state meet and 7th overall in the Division I, II, and III Meet of Champions.  I also received my Varsity letter and was nominated as Rookie of the Year.  During my Sophomore year, our 400 and 200 free really came in 2nd in Division II state. I was also named MVP!

As an athlete, I believe that there are two important factors under your control:  your work ethic and your attitude.  You cannot control other swimmers, the weather, the temperature of the pool, or any other factors.  I believe that a positive attitude is one of the most important qualities a person can have.  It allows you to work to your fullest potential, be open minded, and help your team.  I also believe that there is no substitute for hard work.
