Personal Statement

Growing up I have always enjoyed being in the water. Swimming always seemed to come easy for me and my dad was a swimmer in college. So, I guess you could say I was born to swim.  As my college years grow nearer, I have begun to picture myself at a school where I can excel in both the classroom and the pool. Being able to swim in college has been one of my highest aspirations throughout my years of swimming. I know I am ready to put in the hard work and dedication it requires to swim at the collegiate level. I am devoted to my academics and athletics. I have set lofty goals for myself and I am determined to achieve each and every one of them. I try my best to be a good team leader by encouraging my teammates everyday at practice and at swim meets. My closest friends are those whom I swim with everyday. We push each other very hard to do our very best all the time. I am always open to hearing how I can get better and I work very hard to drop time. I believe that I have been successful with my swimming because I enjoy it so much. I always look forward to going to practice and swimming at swim meets. Because of this it makes the hard work and the outcome more enjoyable. In the classroom, I am extremely dedicated to my studies.  I am a rising Junior at Little Rock Christian Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas. I really want to attend a college where I will be challenged in the classroom with my studies and swim at the highest level possible in the pool. I have a very open mind when it comes to where I will attend college and I am welcome to all options. I hope to find a school with great academic opportunities to set me up for a great career. I am also looking to find a swimming program that will help me swim at the highest level possible. I truly believe that my positive attitude, desire to improve, and genuine love for the sport of swimming will benefit your swimming program. I hope you will consider me for your swimming program and thank you in advance for your consideration.

  • This was another great camp and my second year to attend. I learned a lot of new things and I feel like I grew as an athlete as well. The things I learned from this camp was I needed to throw my hands back faster on my Backstroke start, that I needed to throw my back foot up higher on my Starts from the blocks and to not allow my rear end to drop into the water on my Backstroke starts. The coaches there said that I had four very solid strokes and that I needed to start working on my IM’s. They said I could be a really good 400 IM’er because I had four solid strokes. I can’t wait to get back home and start implementing the things I learned. I feel like this summer will be my best long course season ever!

  • This was a great two day clinic for me to attend. I improved my Starts by extending my chest out at the start of the start. I also improved my turns by ducking my head under the water sooner when entering my Backstroke turns. I picked up a few new drills to work on with my club team and on my own. The best thing about this clinic was at the end of the clinic Christopher Reid which swam for Alabama (he is an Olympian from South African as well) gave me a great compliment. He said I had a really nice stroke and did I have plans on swimming In college? I told him I really wanted to swim in college and he said that when it came time for me to start looking at colleges to just DM him if I needed any help finding a college? I thought that was so awesome for him to say that to me and it really made me feel good about my backstroke! I highly recommend this clinic to any backstroker and Christopher Reid when looking to improve your backstroke.
