I’m Ashley Bagabuyo. I’m 16 years old and I’m currently in my junior year of high school. I will graduate high school in the spring of 2020 and planned on attending university in the fall of 2020.
I started competitive swimming at the age of 10 and I continue to love the sport of swimming. I enjoy training and racing! I have made the qualifying times for the British Columbia Provincial Championships Meets, Canada’s Speedo Western Championships Meet, and Canada’s Age Group National Championships Meet. As an IM’er, I’m a very versatile swimmer and can compete in any event. Currently, backstroke is my best event but I’m always working on improving my other strokes (breaststroke, freestyle, butterfly, including turns, starts, breakouts, underwater, and finishes). Moreso, I enjoy being part of a relay where my versatility as an IM’er tend to shine and help my team.
Academically, as a choice, I’m attending a French Immersion High School program. Thus, I’m fluent in both English and French languages. I have been able to consistently maintain an honor roll standing every year. I enjoy sciences and I am hoping to pursue a degree in Health Sciences. I’m also part of my school debating team and I’m also a peer leader at my school.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading books, listening to music, and learning how to play guitar, piano, and clarinet.
