I come from a very small town in the Coachella Valley. Where I live is a predominantly Latino area that is often put under the shadow of the Coachella Music and Arts festival and the extravagances of Palms Springs. I feel that growing up I didn't have many people to look up to from my town. My high school has actually never been truly recognized for sports other than soccer, more specifically no one ever in my high school has ever qualified for state qualifying tournaments or been recruited for swim until 2018. I want to swim in college and hopefully continue a successful swim career to inspire the youth in my town. To show them regardless of their background or area they live in anything is possible. In college I want to receive my degree in creative writing and Chicana Studies because I strive to write stories, whether that includes books or plays for kids and adults. I want to help grow and highlight the importance of my community by my successes.
