I would make a great candidate for the team because I come to practice with a positive mindset. With practice and school work, I am very focused and make an effort knowing I tried and did the best I could. My coaches and teachers would both say I am a respecful student-athlete who always tries her best. My goal is to make a positive impact on my team. I have learned that there is always room for improvement, and I want to grow as a swimmer and student to show that there is more that I can give in practices, races, and school. Swimming has always been emotional to me because it has been apart of my whole life, so I give it my all at meets and practices. At the end of my races you see I care very much as I can give off a big smile when I do a personal best time or a few tears when I don't reach my goal time.
As school can be stressful, it is something I take very seriously. I make sure to get my work done ahead of time, so that my work doesn't pile up. I always make sure to review my work before I turn anything in. I use to have a grueling time in school. But, over the years, I have been putting more time and effort into my work by, asking questions and seeking the right help in order to succeed in my classes. I have always been interested in science, specifically biology and physiology. For my future I would love to follow the career paths as a dermatologist or in sports medicine.
Swimming isn't just a sport to me, it's home. Swimming is a place for me to clear my head and to take a break from the endless thoughts. It helps me refresh myself for the day. If you asked my parents, they would say swimming effects me mentally as I always come home from practice looking much more happier than before practice. Many people don't like or go to morning practices before school, but those are my favorite practices because it gives me a head start of the day and I already feel ready to start my day. I first started rec swim when I was about 6 years old and did this until I was a freshman. I joined year-around swim or club when I was just freshman, and knew that I needed to learn and improve far more in swim.
