Hello, my name is Kaya Benjes and in the graduating class of 2024 at Centaurus High School. I have been swimming for about 9 years and it has helped me through all aspects of my life. I use the lessons I have learned from training in my everyday life and will continue to use them in the future. Swimming has taught me that resilience, determination, hard work, and a positive attitude are key parts to overcome any obstacle life throws at me.
I have always worked hard in school and all of the sports I've played, especially swimming. I strive to be the best version of myself that I can be. I am competitive in both academics and athletics and I like to challenge myself with new things. In academics, I am currently taking on a few AP/IB classes, including language, history, and math, and I have maintained a 4.0+ weighted GPA throughout my high school career. I have also competed in multiple sports including: soccer, running (track and cross country), gymnastics, dance, and martial arts. In swimming, I am on a high school team and a summer league team. I have made it to finals in 100 butterfly, 200 IM, and 100 IM multiple times throughout my time on my summer league team. I made it to state in the 2023 season only in the medley relay in my high school season.
I am currently interested in majoring in engineering, criminology, or psychology. I would like to attend both an academic and athletic competitive school so I can challenge myself and grow as a person, athlete, and student.
