Personal Statement

I am a senior at Glastonbury High School in Connecticut.  I was just named team captain of the  Swimming & Diving team which competes in the largest class (LL) in the state.  During my freshman, sophomore and junior years, I earned All-Conference, All-State, All-Academic Awards (sophomore & junior years) and was named MVP for all three years. I currently hold three high school records in the 100 freestyle (52.54), 200 free and 400 free relays. Junior year, I finished 4th in the 50 freestyle (24.35) and 3rd in the 100 freestyle (52.54) during the Class LL State Championships.  Last year, I joined the Cougar Aquatic Team (CAT) and have been a consistent qualifier for Sectionals in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 500 free, 100 butterfly, 100 back and 200 back. In the spring, I competed at the University of Connecticut in the Connecticut Senior Open Invite.  I qualified for the Winter Junior Nationals in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.44.  My 200L backstroke time was 2:22.48.  My current goals are to continue to improve my times which will hopefully allow me to swim at a competitive college level.

Academically, my grades have consistently improved since freshman year and I am committed to working as hard as possible in the classroom.  I will take the SAT and ACT in the fall one more time but as of now my scores are as follows: SAT (math) 590 (Reading) 590 and (Writing) 550.  My ACT score is 26.  I am currently participating in Special Olympics (swimming) and was  selected by my high school's administration to lead the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program for this academic year. Additionally,  I have been a Girl Scout in Troop 10845 since kindergarten and have earned my Bronze and Silver Awards. I am also active in my church and volunteer as an altar server and serve meals at a local homeless shelter.

  • 2013 Cougar Aquatic Team CT (CT) (USA)
  • I have just learned by our head coach, Mike Krajewiski, is taking a new coaching job with the West Hartford Sharks. Because Coach Mike has been such a strong motivator, I am planning to become a Shark following my senior high school season.
  • 2012 Cougar Aquatic Team CT (USA Swimming)
  • This will be my second year with the Cougar Aquatic Team. My high school coach does not allow her swimmers to participate on any Club teams during the high school season. I will resume with them for short course in mid-November.
  • 2007 Glastonbury Swimming CT (USA Swimming)
  • I swam with the Glastonbury USA team for 4 seasons (long course only) and decided to move to CAT because I felt I wasn't reaching my potential. The Glastonbury team was getting very large 70+ swimmers which made practice lanes very crowded. During short course season, I was playing travel basketball.
  • 2003 Town of Glastonbury CT (Parks & Recreation)
  • I started swimming with the Glastonbury Parks & Recreation team when I was 7 years old. Each season, I qualified for Championships on the "A" team.
  • 2003 Woodledge Swim & Tennis Club CT (Summer Swim League)
