Personal Statement

My name is Sophia Velleco and I am a high school junior at Seymour High School. I began swimming when I was five years old at the local YMCA with my older brother and sister. At nine years old I moved to a new team, the Woodbridge Aquatic Club. This has been my second home every day since. My coaches and teammates have helped me develop into the competitive swimmer that I am today. I love to train but especially love the intensity of getting ready for a competition and the feeling of stepping up to another challenge put in front of me. Every time I step up onto the block I am determined to perform my best and put all my effort to improve my times. My hope is to continue to swim competitively in college and compete at the next level.
