I started swimming when I was 7 for a summer league team, and immediately fell in love with the sport. I decided to take it to the next level and joined Greater Columbus Swim Team of Ohio, and it was the best decision I have ever made. I created bonds that will last a life time and have learned hard work and dedication while playing the sport I am passionate about. The team became my family, which made it even harder when at 12 I learned I would be moving to Tampa, Florida. Up until 8th grade, I had lived in a small town just outside of Columbus, Ohio. My dad had gotten a great job opportunity in Tampa, and of course we wanted to support him. This was not an easy transition for me, as I was leaving all my family and friends, but I learned and grew a lot from it. It broadened my horizons and molded me into the more independent and outgoing person that I am today.
Swimming is my passion, but I have lots of other passions outside of the pool. One of my favorite things to do is go to concerts. There is just something so fun and inspiring about watching a great live music performance with an energetic crowd. I enjoy all types of music, but my favorite genre has to be alternative rock. Ever since I was little, I have always had a tendency to care for those around me. That combined with an interest in medicine has led me to pursue a pre-med major. I am looking for a school that offers both great academics and athletics. I also enjoy singing in my high school's choir, which has given me many amazing experiences including performing in beautiful cathedrals in Ireland. Speaking of traveling, I love going to new places! I adapt very well to new cultures and surroundings, and find learning about them very interesting. Living in Florida of course has it's perks, so in my free time I love to go to the beach or Busch Gardens. Spending time with friends and family is also very important to me, and I love my swim family more than anything.
I have definitely faced a lot of adversity throughout my swimming career. I have had to fight my way through knee, back, and most recently shoulder injuries. Although it is a tough thing for anyone to go through and can often be discouraging, I have remained positive and optimistic about it. It has taught me the importance of taking care of my body, and has made me an overall stronger person. The road to success is never a smooth path, and I'm glad that I have been able to overcome these roadblocks along the way because now I will be better prepared for them in the future. I know that at which ever school I am fortunate enough to attend, I will dedicate myself to being the best that I can possibly be.
