Olivia Laughridge '23 Recruiting Profile

Throughout my life swimming has led me in many amazing directions. I have overcome many hardships, and bumps in the road of life, and swimming has helped destress me throughout it all. I started swimming at age 9, taking private lessons from a friend. I swam one lap, and I was hooked. It was something I looked forward to every day. I didn't stress in the water, I took everything going on in my life and forgot about it as I swam. Swimming has helped develop me into a hardworking, involved, supportive team member. I am constantly asking my coaches for constructive criticism to improve my form, speed, and techniques. I work inside and outside of the pool during the off-season to stay in shape and keep my speed up. I constantly cheer on my team during relays and personal events. I am a strong leader that my team looks to for advice on and off the pool deck. I am looking to study Pre-Law in college and would love to not just continue my passion for school, but also swim! I am always helping around the community like helping out clean and run school events, and in the Rome, Georgia community helping at the women shelter and the nursing home. Swimming has always been a passion of mine and I am constantly, year-round, working to be the best swimmer I can be and I always work on myself I have cried, laughed, and overcome mental blocks leading me to constantly better myself inside and outside of the sport.
