Samantha Tomic '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi my name is Sam Tomic and I am excited to swim at the collegiate level.  I recently swam a 200 yard fly for the first time and completed it in 2:28.81. My main events are 50 Free ( Current: 26.08  Goal: 24.50) 100 Free ( Current: 57.49  Goal: 55.40)   100 Fly ( Current: 1:05   Goal: 59.59)  200 Free  (Current 2:04 Goal 1:59).   This year I have challenged myself to improve in the backstroke ( Current 1:06 Goal 1:03.  ) Swimming is my passion!!!! I love everything about the sport.  I have swam year round for my local swim club, Bradley Bourbonnais Swim Club,  since 6th grade.  I have swam varsity since my freshman year for my high school team.  I was a three sport athlete in junior high . In high school I narrowed down my athletics to swim and waterpolo ( varsity all 3 years so far).  I pride myself on being fiercely competitive and a good teammate.  I am thankful to my parents who taught me to learn from both my wins and my losses and that balance in life is important to success.  I have won several awards on my club team, but I am especially proud of the dolphin award,  which is given to those who are the best all round teammate.  I also was selected MVP my sophomore year by my teammates.  I am a natural leader and feel I can contribute to a team in a positive way both through actions and attitude. I will be the one who helps keep team morale up and the teammate others can depend on. I am hoping to study Psychology in college with an eventual career in Sports Psychology.  I feel I have so much more to learn and grow as both a competitor and a teammate.   I am ready to work harder than ever before to be successful for my college team.
