My name is Allison Naylor, and I will be a 2021 graduate of Edwardsville High School in Edwardsville, IL. I did not begin swimming until I was in 5th grade in the age group of 11/12 year olds with the Edwardsville YMCA Breakers. In a short amount of time, I have made it to USA Central Zones, Speedo Sectionals, YMCA Nationals, TYR Summer Senior Championships, the Illinois State High School swim meet in the 200 freestyle relay as a freshman, and as a sophomore, I made it to the Illinois State High School Swim meet in the 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, and 400 freestyle relay. As a Junior, I swam in the Illinois State High School Swim meet as the anchor of both 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay.
In high school, I have swam varsity as a Freshman, Sophomore, & Junior, been a member of the winning sectional team all 3 years, and made it to the Illinois State High School Meet all 3 years. I currently hold a 4.3 GPA with 4 honors classes, and AP Biology. Succeeding in school and swim are both very important to me. I never miss a practice - swim or dryland. I love to compete, both in individual events and on team relays. The success I have experienced has only made me want go further. The positive reinforcement I receive from teachers and coaches, being told that I am a leader and a role model, receiving periodic weekly awards and challenge awards, make me want to strive to continue this path. Setting goals, reaching them, and then setting new goals are some of my most challenging and fun things to do.
I also work as a lifeguard and teach swim lessons to beginners and up. Teaching swim lessons brings it all back to the beginning for me, and I hope to help another future swimmer get a great start!
My ideal college would be where I could continue my success with swim and start my journey into the medical field to eventually go onto medical school to become a pediatrician.
