Calista Smith '25 Recruiting Profile

My name is Calista Smith, I am currently looking forward to my junior year at Mt. Vernon High School in Fortville, Indiana. When I am not in the pool, I enjoy challenging myself academically. My goal is to attend a college where I could complete a degree in the stem field and swim. 

When I was ending elementary school, my interest in swim began when my sister joined a swim club at our local YMCA. From the beginning, I enjoyed breaststroke more than the other strokes, like my sister. Over the years my favorite events have changed into the 200 free, 200 IM, 200 breast, and 500 free. My best times for these events are 2:07.2 for 200 free, 2:24.2 for 200 IM, 2:43 for 200 breast, and lastly 5:43.8 for 500 free. I have worked hard this past season and got third in HHC conference in the 200 IM and received the MVP award my sophomore year in my high school swim team.

I push myself at practice every day and try new events to look for a new challenge. While trying to improve in the water, I also strive to achieve good marks in school at the same time. I take every challenge as a new opportunity to get better.
