Swim started being apart of my life when I was 5 years old. After some time, my love for the sport grew and soon enough the talent began to grow too. I've been swimming for almost 11 years and throughout my journey I've learned that teammates are everything. Not only do they make the sport more enjoyable but they are your family and support system through all your good or bad moments. In the past I struggled with my passion for swimming. For the longest time, I always told people the reason why swam was to make my dad proud. My family, especially dad, is my biggest fan. I'd never want to disappoint him. I attacked this situation at multiple different angles. One big factor into helping with the love was high school season. All my love and my ability to have fun with the sport came back. On the first high school meet I dislocated my knee-cap. The doctors told me my season was gone and had to accept the fact that I may never be the same swimmer ever again. After everything that has happened to me in the last year, I wasn't willing to give up. When physical therapy started, I worked so hard to strengthen my leg. Soon enough, my doctor let me start training. It started out slow but I was able to work my way back up. Not only did I swim sectionals but also NIC's and two in-season meets. My times were not my best, but they weren't awful and I was proud of myself for even making a comeback. Being positive is what got me through my freshman year. As for not being the same swimmer, I did notice some skills were harder for me, but I worked at them everyday. I do still struggle with confidence and with some skills I didn't before. I do recognize it's all mental and one race will bring my competitive nature back. My determination is what makes me who I am today. I will always strive to be better. This is true for me academically and with sports. For college, my goal is to compete at the highest level. As I have done for every other adventure in my life, my mindset is the key to achieving my goals.
