Personal Statement

I am a Senior at Twin Lakes High School. My future plans are to pursue a degree in medicine as I would like to become an anesthesiologist as well as swim for the university/college I attend.

I have been swimming since I was 5 years old. I not only swim during the high school season, but I swim both short and long course as I am a current member of USA Swimming.

I feel I have a tremendous work ethic both in the classroom and in the pool and I do what it takes to succeed. When high school season is not in session, I travel 45 minutes to my club swim team, FISH Aquatics. I practice in the mornings from 5:30-7:30 and then again in the afternoon from 4pm-6pm. On top of this I am in several AP classes and extracurricular activities I am juggling. I do all of the above to try and be the best version of myself that I can be along with trying to gain a competitive edge.

Swam the 100 meter back in 1:08.99, the 200 meter back in 2:35.67 and the 200 IM in 2:35.34. This was my first pro swim meet and I was excited to swim with Olympians like Katie Ledecky, Lily King, etc.

Qualified in 5 individual events and 5 relays. Made finals in the 100 back and the 100 Fly. In the back, I made a Futures cut with a time of 58.34.

Placed 24th in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 58.53. Placed 30th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.28.

Won both individual events (200 IM and 100 Back) breaking the high school record in both of those events previously held by my cousin, Kimbre Vogel, who was a swimmer at Purdue University. I also was a part of the 200 medley relay and the 400 Free relay. Both teams advanced to State. My split for the medley relay in the backstroke was a 27.37 and my split in the 400 Free Relay was a 53.95

I was the winner of the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:14.50 and winner of the 100 back with a time of 59.55. The 200 medley relay I was on also won with a time of 1:53.33. My 50 back split in that relay was a 27.51. The 200 free relay I was on finished 2nd in finals with a time of 1:43.38. My split was a 25.14. I was the 4th leg of this relay.

2016 Indiana Swimming House of Delegates Meeting

Was selected by my club coach Sean Barry to attend the 2016 House of Delegates meeting as a senior athlete representative for our club. I attended many break out sessions and did volunteer work for "Indiana Feed the Hungry" where the senior athlete's prepared meals. I also swam with all the other senior athletes during a work out session.
