Personal Statement

Hi! My name is Shea Hohne. I am in my Senior year at Castle High School and soon to be starting my 4th year on CHS Varsity Swim. Looking to top last year, another undefeated season and sectionals championship for our Lady Knights! 3 years in a row! My Freshman HS swim season was certainly one to remember the prior year with my undefeated team, once again! At sectional finals I finished number 1 Freshman in 50 Free, and received my Varsity Letter!  I have been swimming since I was 6, and competitively since I was 9, for the Newburgh Sea Creatures. When I turned 14 in the Spring of 2021,  I got my first job as a Learn to Swim Instructor! Now I am a certified lifeguard through the Red Cross, with certifications in CPR, First Aid and AED.  In the future, I want to swim on the college level.  My favorites are free and back, but I am becoming a strong flyer too! Starting my goal setting early! My favorite things about swimming, it’s a great balance…being  by myself and also a part of a team. I love relays too! I was attended a rowing camp at Eastern Michigan University that was amazing! I’ve had some great interest in me being a triathlete as well. I want to focus on swim and band though. My hobbies include playing the trumpet in concert and marching band, and also trumpet choir, taking piano lessons, drawing and design and LAUGHING:) I hope to find a school that fits my personality, large and in charge! Looking forward to majoring in secondary education, a competitive swim program and one that allows me to indulge in my passion for music as well!  I have received so many wonderful messages from coaches thus far, so many wonderful swim programs out there. I am looking for a large school:)

This kind of dedication shows the drive to get better each and every day.  Athlete  Shea loves to race. The fire to race is what every great swimmer needs in order to be the best.  Role Model  Shea is easily one of the funniest swimmers that I coach. Being able to make those around you laugh is a valued teammate quality!
