Personal Statement
I have been swimming since I was in 5th grade, and I have loved it ever since I have touched the water. Swim has been a constant part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I want to keep it as a constant part. I am used to training hard for my times; I use the set backs I have. such as injuries or back races, as fuel to train harder. Once I set my mind to something I will stay committed. I committed to swim, and placed 3rd in Europe for the 100 breaststroke. I committed to school, and now I am 7th in my class with a 4.1905 GPA. I learned that from my father, who is serving in the United States Air Force, which is why I am currently living in Germany. Being a military dependent has made my life different than most, but I have gained many qualities and experiences that I wouldn't have if I lived a stationary life in the United States. I have lived in many different countries around the world, and have been to many more; I've seen the different cultures and lifestyles of different people. I adapted to each new place, the new country, the new school, the new people; and I know that I would be able to apply that in college swimming. It is much different than high school swimming, there is more pressure to preform and to keep your grades. I won't buckle, I know how to hold that kind of weight. Currently I am the president of the Science National honors Society, the Vice-president of our school's Student-2-student program, secretary of the National Honors Society, on the planning comity of ours schools first science fair, an active member of Red cross, and a member of the Tri-M music honors society. I know how to jungle my time with the different activities; and the stress and pressure of both school work and extracurriculars. I have what it takes to be apart of a college swim team.
I want to get a bachelors degree in Biology on a pre-med track. I have wanted to be a doctor for as long as I have been swimming. I have always wanted to help people, and I carry that through in my everyday life. Academics is just as important to me as swimming is. I pride myself in my courses and my grades. I put 110% into everything I do, so I know that I will be able to keep my high GPA and still excel in swimming. I believe that I would be a good candidate for your team, and I hope you agree.
