Personal Statement
Hello, I have been swimming since I was 5 and was doing very well until the past two years when injuries and then the pandemic put a hold on my swimming. I play touch rugby and also do track, rock climbing and athletics. Throughout my life, I have been a high-achieving student, mainly getting over 85% in all my subjects. I overtrained in 2019 causing me to be injured and on crutches which took a while to recover. After this, the Hong Kong protest and the pandemic also took a toll on my swimming. Despite these challenges, I have continued to swim and am currently training the pool again although they were closed for almost a year during the pandemic. I am very committed to swimming and aspire to swim at a very high level. My main events are short to middle-distance Butterfly and Backstroke with some freestyle sprints as well. I also aim to go to an academically selective college as currently, I am placing in the top three of my class for the majority of my subjects. I would make a great candidate as I have also led my old school's swimming team (one year ago) to many victories such as being the girl's champion in the International Schools Sports Federation HK (Swimming Section) and have competed in the Hong Kong national age-group championships a number of times. I am now taking the IB diploma course which is a challenging but rewarding HS diploma and I look forward to continue swimming while completing high school. I have always been a leader and lead many clubs and teams at school, I enjoy working with other people and am always willing to help with more and do more.
