Last year I made a life-changing decision to move to boarding school in Australia in order to improve my swimming performance and gain the relevant experience and skills to help me realize my dream of becoming a US collegiate swimmer. Since arriving in Australia, I have made significant improvements. This year I made the finals session for the LC Australian Age Nationals for the 50m and 100m freestyle. I was also an Age Finalist at the Australian National Open Short Course Championships for the 50m and 100m freestyle. I was selected onto the South Australian Youth Swim Team development squad. I am currently loving the experience of swimming in Australia, especially being part of a highly dedicated swim culture.
My Background
As both Australian and Malaysian, I have grown up as a global citizen, living in 5 different countries (UK, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Australia) and attending both international and local schools along the way. This experience has given me a great appreciation of the diversity in the world and has helped me become adaptable and resilient. Throughout my many moves I have always maintained my passion for swimming.
Academics
Alongside swimming, academics have also been a high priority of mine. I am a straight A student and work hard to excel in my studies. I received 9A*/As in my IGCSEs. This year I am in my final year of the Australian curriculum at Immanuel College. Last year I received the English Award and Academic Achievement Award for my year level. I would love to maintain these high standards at university whilst studying an exercise science or pre-physical therapy course.
