Personal Statement
It's a bittersweet reality; being afflicted with severe scoliosis for years whilst pursuing my dream of swimming. However, it was necessary to build my character. It needed grit, perseverance and consistency. Scoliosis could not stop my passion from the competitive world of swimming. From drills to endurance training in the ocean, I want to continue swimming on a collegiate-level swim team.
I have challenged my writing skills to independently publish and create a medical self-help guide to scoliosis patients. I've gone beyond my comfort zone and my fear of public speaking by challenging myself to teach Business-English to a 14,000 member Discord server amidst a global pandemic. With an avid passion of global affairs, I plunged myself into the world of MUN, challenging myself to compete in YaleMUN, CISSMUN and even expand my debate and writing skills to World Scholar's Cup - which allowed me to qualify to compete in Yale, in the Tournament of Champions. With my family-nurtured passion for writing, I was the head of literary content on my school's magazine. Other than swimming and yoga, a typical week consists of beach cleanups, volunteering at the local veterinary rescue clinic and interning in marketing and E-commerce departments of the largest hotel-management company in Indonesia.
