Personal Statement
I am Isabella. I am a 14-year-old mexican who lives in Puebla. I have swum since I was 6 years old and I have been training in a more competitive team for the last 2 years. My biggest goal is to study at an American university. On vacations, I visited Stanford, UCLA, and Columbia and I knew I wanted to be part of an American university. In Mexico, my home country I go to a private school, and my parents pay for my swimming lessons since I was in elementary school. They take me to competitions all over the country and my parents also support me with healthy meals and they help me study English to fulfill my dream. I know for international students like me there are more challenges to overcome and that is why I think now is a pretty good time to start getting on the way of a scholarship. My family has been saving for my university studies but the Mexican peso is not very much compared to the value of the dollar. So I have to get on the way of getting financial aid. I know that if given the opportunity to study college in the USA I´d give a lot more back to the athletes like me that need help and to the world, I live in. I think sports can help a lot of kids like me that have the discipline and the dream to change their lives.
