What make me different from a lot of swimmers is that I try to stay out of my comfort zone at practice and manage myself to give my 110% the most of the time. I love the feeling of body pain after a hard training because it make me feel powerful and capable to reach my goals. I love cheering my teammates both in practice and in competition and enjoy the most to be part of the relays.
I am a determined person so I look at the pandemic as a new opportunity to improve my swimming skills. When my club pool closed, I searched all over my city and I was incredibly lucky to find an open home 25m pool, where I can swim daily for 3 hours, under the advice from a 1992 Mexican Olympian, Erika Gonzalez, who was an inspiration of self-confidence. Having not missed a day of swimming, I can proudly say these five months have been incredibly productive in my career. My passion is to compete representing my club, my school or my country that is what move my desire to train and be better each day, and I can not wait to do it again and see the results of all this hard and consistent work.
I have been swimming year-round and competitively since the age of 12. I chose swimming among other sport because the fact of being part of a team and the energy it transmitted me. At first, I struggled as a 12-year-old catching up to swimmers who have been competitively swimming since they were 6 years old. With this challenge I realized that with determination, hard work, patience and effort I can reach my goals.
I began competing in local meets and fought my way to national and international meets with the help of my teammates and coach. One of my greatest experiences was representing my country in the International Children´s Games Lithuania 2017. I ‘m so grateful for this 6 years, all my teammates that had turn into family, all the self control, resilience, emotional strength, discipline and organization that swimming had given me and that had shaped me in an excellent student and a positive leader in my high school where I was elected by school vote for the position of the sports council for 2020-2021.
As a driven student and swimmer I am extremely excited about the possibility of continuing my swimming and academic career in the U.S. in a competitive college and swimming team. I know I have the potential to turn into a great swimmer. I am 5.8 feet tall with a wingspan of 5.9 feet and have never lifted any weights other than my own weight; therefore, I know I can get stronger with the correct gym program. I have a solid start and good walls, so I believe the new experience of swimming in yards would be favorable to me.
One of my aspirations in life is to help people in my country through the power of sports. I want to become a better swimmer so my foundation/school can have a more impacting name. I want a school with a great business and entrepreneurship program that helps me get all the skills I need to succeed and have a positive impact in society.
