Personal Statement
I have basically been swimming since I was 6 months old and I have had a never ending passion for the sport ever since. I swim for a club called Boksburg Aquatic Saints and attend school at St Dominic’s school for girls in Boksburg and Live in Benoni and i am currently 16 years old.
Since 2012 I have achieved many of my goals:
Winning the Midmar mile in 2012 for 13& under girl’s age group.
Placing 1st in 13 & under 2011, 2nd in 2013(open) & 4th in 2014 (open) in the SunCity Dam swim.
Placing 5th in the 3km at open water nationals 2014
Placing 11th at the Midmar Mile 2014
Taking part in the Midmar Mile 8 Mile Pink drive for cancer 2013
Being selected to represent SA at the Cana zone 3&4 African Swimming games 2012
And my recent biggest achievement being selected to Represent South Africa at the Open Water Junior World Nationals which were held In Hungary 2014 where I placed 19th in the World.
I also qualified for Age Group South African swimming nationals which will take place in PE in March and South African Youth Nationals which will be held In Durban.
I am also hoping to take part in the Well Known Robben Island swim from Robben Island to Blouburg Bay in May or December 2015.
One of my long term goals are to also qualify for either the 2016 Olympics or 2020 Olympics
The 2016 Olympic trials will take place next year March for Open water swimming and in April for pool swimming.
And the Trails for the Open Water World Championships will also be held next year March and the World Class event will be held in Mexico in late 2016.
In January 2015 I won both the 3km and 1200m at The Vaal Dam Open Water Swim.
Recently I came first at the Heia Safari Dam swim at lake heritage on the 17th of Jan I came first for the 5km a qualifying event for Senior South African Open Water Nationals and on the 18th I won the 1200m race at the same venue also seeding me with an orange cap for Midmar which is your fastest batch in the race.
I am currently the top female swimmer in Gauteng and 4th in South Africa in the Open Age Group.
I also have my Eastern Gauteng Colours for Open Water Swimming and Pool Swimming.
Over the next few weeks on a Monday at 20:30 there is a show called super swimmer on super sport which I will be featured in over the next 3 weeks for a swim series I have been taking part in and I have been interviewed many times if you would be interested to watch.
I recently also attended the South African Open Water Championships in Cape Town where I placed 6th in the 5km and 1st in the 3km making me the fastest female 3km swimmer in South Africa.
I received my Protea colours in July 2014 and was officially announced one of the youngest sports women in Gauteng to receive them at my age.
I have been swimming competitivley since the age of 6 and i have loved it since it would be a huge honou to represent and attend one of the overseas universities. It has been a dream of mine since such a young age!
I love Open Water especially and really enjoy the 4 month season of it here in South Africa. This year i placed 15th in the Midmar Mile Open Age group catagory,
