Personal Statement
My ethos is "Medals are won at training, collected at gala's." I have been swimming from the age of 8 yrs old and it hasn't been an easy road . It was tough from the onset, as I was quite small and struggled against the larger/more powerful girls in my age group. I loved swimming and training so much but it was at the gala's where I thought that swimming was not for me. No matter how hard I tried, I struggled to make podiums. My dad who has been my mentor, helped me overcome the mental block and taught me the value of dedication and perseverance. At the age of 13,Technique and fitness would prevail over strength and I could see my progression by consistently improving my times and dominating the podium. I have never looked back since and it is the foundation of who I am today.
My aspiration is to see what my true potential holds for me in my swimming career whilst completing my studies which should supplement my passion for sport , either human science or biology/Pre-med Technical.
I'm of the opinion that to improve my results consistently, one should never be content with a comfort zone and constantly push the boundaries. I'm looking for an opportunity to showcase and further develop my skills in an environment where I can feel part of a team that is as passionate and driven as I am. This is important for me as studying abroad will have it's challenges but to feel part of another family is key to success.
