Personal Statement
My goal is to become a physical therapist working in rehabilitation and/or sports therapy. Experiencing the benefits of physical therapy through swimming has further confirmed my career choice. I have been swimming competitively with South Ayrshire Swim Team for 8 years, the last 3 years in their top squad. I am competing regularly at National and District level. I am definitely a team player and I was chosen as a team captain to represent South Ayrshire in the Dynamic Youth Award Scheme, and I know I would make use of this skill if I was to be selected for a university team. I am a hard worker and put a lot of effort into both my studies and training. As I was sitting my most important exams so far last year, I had to push myself even harder and stay really disciplined to achieve better times whilst also focussing on my studies. I get up at 5 AM three mornings a week and at 6.15 AM every Saturday, and we have three afternoon sessions which last between 2,5 and 3 hours, so I had to be really well organised and motivated to be able to cope with both studies and swimming. I am also aware that I will have to work even harder to improve on my technique and fitness levels to achieve my ultimate goal, which would be to study and swim competitively for a university in the US. I am highly motivated and enthusiastic about my swimming, as this has been my dream for many years, so I believe I have what it takes to succeed both in swimming and academically. Furthermore, I understand that to gain a scholarship in the US would be a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I know that if I was lucky enough to get this chance, I would be extremely committed to my sport and my studies and I will try my absolute hardest at all times.
